Edinburgh

Edinburgh

Our Edinburgh course runs from May each year. It is run by the Seasonal Yoga team, with the addition of the fantastic Ben Hemson-Struthers as the resident Ashtanga teacher in Sacred Heart Yoga

Teachers: Marit Akintewe (course leader for Edinburgh and Seasonal Yoga director), Sue Woodd, Julie Hanson, Claire Davidson, Lucie Potter, Jane Blundell, and Ben Hemson - Struthers.

WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS YEARS COURSE.

Marit Akintewe is a founding director of Seasonal Yoga and has been teaching full time since 2004. She is a hugely experienced teacher, with a truly unusual background as a yogi, with long periods of study and practice under Swami Vivekananda and Sahajananda. Marit teaches meditation, pranayama, asana, and philosophy with a passion and understanding which exemplifies the learning and practice she has undertaken. Her students often remark that her ability to make difficult concepts, and ancient teachings, come alive and relevant, changes them forever. A mum of 2, balancing real life demands has given her both the perspective of the seeker (long periods of time in solitude) and the house holder.

Ben Hemson-Struthers runs the Sacred Heart Yoga studio in Edinburgh, and will be running the Ashtanga program on the course. Since 2010 Benji immersed himself within the practise of asana, pranayama and meditation. His daily forays to the mat started with Matthew Sweeney’s Vinyasa Krama Sequences. “I was inspired by Matthew’s creativity and firm commitment to exploring the yoga practise. These are my touchstones upon which I define my own teaching-creativity and commitment. I have since completed 3 teacher training programs with Matthew, amounting to 800 hours of teacher training and countless mornings of practising and exploring.”

Each module Marit and Ben shall be joined by another member of the Seasonal Yoga team to give you great exposure to all of the seasonal Yoga directors, and other senior teachers. It is great to have different perspectives and energies in the room from whom to learn.

Location: The Sacred Heart Centre, 25 Rodney Street, Edinburgh EH7 4EL. Web: www.sacredheartcentre.org

The Sacred Heart Center is a lovely space near the bottom of Broughton street, in Edinburgh center. We offer Ashtanga Yoga, Yin Yoga, Hatha Yoga, children's Yoga, Yoga for climbers, pregnancy classes and more. A wonderfully welcoming space offering Yoga for everyone.
