I first came to Julie and Chi Yoga (now Seasonal Academy ) after a serious car accident. After surgery and physical therapy, I still had several mobility issues and just climbing stairs was an arduous challenge. Julie patiently worked with my body over a long period of time, helping it to strengthen and gently encouraging it to open. That was well over a decade ago. These days, nobody would ever guess that I had been in an accident. With Julie’s support and encouragement, I’ve even become a yoga teacher myself. Although I now live in another city, I still visit Glasgow regularly and come to Julie’s classes. I’ve never stopped learning from Julie and would readily recommend both her and Chi Yoga Glasgow to anyone thinking of taking up yoga. Anyone can benefit tremendously from yoga and, thanks to Julie and Chi Yoga, I’m proof of that!
The course was wonderful, getting into the depth of Yoga, in a relaxing way, life changing with the help of great teachers.
My first yoga class was in September 2002 after I had completed 6 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for breast cancer. Thanks to Julie Hanson and her team of teachers I have been practising yoga for over 10 years. I am a cancer survivor! For me going to Chi & Co for seasonal flow yoga is 60 minutes of practice, then moving on to Moira Jane’s for ‘after class socializing’ – coffee/tea/soya hot chocolate/orange juice/cold water etc. etc. and catching up with news of fellow yogis. This gives me the ‘feel good’ factor. Then about 45 minutes later, we all go to do our own daily chores – filled with ‘good energies’, till we meet each other again for the next yoga class! If I can score practising yoga for my well-being I’m definitely giving it a BIG 10!
Hello. I started going to seasonal yoga classes at Chi&Co last February. ( now Seasonal academy) I would like to share the benefits I are getting. My body is in better shape and more flexible. I feel calmer and in better mood. Also got many friends there. After our yoga class(usually 9:30am) we going to our favourite coffee shop near to Julie's studio and have coffee and chat in a nice environment. Can't wait for my next class on Tuesday.

One of the first things I did when I arrived in Glasgow ten years ago, was to Chi and Co, (now Seasonal Academy) run by Julie Hanson and supported by a knowledgeable team of teachers. Initially, I attended the Wednesday morning class. This enabled me to meet a great group of people from the local area and I soon realised that all new faces got the same welcome. Within this network, I enjoyed the rewarding experience of Seasonal Yoga where our Practice was adapted according to the seasons/what the Glasgow weather was doing! I was able to learn the reasons and benefits for the positions and feel more stretched and flexible afterwards. In addition, we were taught about what foods complimented the seasons and hence our Practice- new ideas for recipes! To add to my knowledge of the local area, the 'Apres Yoga' was a must. There was always an open invitation to reward ourselves with a coffee at a well know nearby establishment! Here, I was able to get reliable recommendations for anything from the phone number of a good plumber to a good curry house!I soon began to attend more classes during the week, both morning and evenings, as well as the energising Sunday morning class, rewarding myself with a big breakfast afterwards! I even managed to persuade my husband to attend Yoga for Runners as a form of exercise to compliment his running.
Over the years, I have used the special breathing technique that I have learned, to get me through stressful times, for example, during my degree course. On reflection, it did seem that the day spent after a yoga class was filled with more positive and uplifting moments! Was this due to the yoga practice, the wonderful teachers, the people in the class or the Après Yoga? Try it and find out for yourself. I am now moving on from Glasgow and will be searching for a similar experience. I still have ties to Glasgow so I will be back to get my Chi and Co fix!
